Jerome Grey, the Samoan Chief
Jeromeís lineage traces back from King Leiataua Lesa of Manono, to Fa’asua Ma Le Aui of Puleia, to Fa’anana of Satupa’itea, to Pa’u, Leilua and Fepulea’i of Safotulafai, on the Island of Savai’i. Fa’anana and FepuleaFa’i titles were formally bestowed (saofa’i) upon Jerome at ceremonies at the said villages. His mother Toeasonaimoamoa is from the Fuamatu family, (one of the titles Jerome currently holds), from the village of LauliFa’i at Vaimauga I SasaFa’e County on ’Upolu Island.
“To be a Matai is a tremendous commitment to leadership, and I am extremely
grateful to the families for this honor. Therefore, I dedicate the traditional
tatau to the noble families I represent, as a sign of pride in who I am and where
I come from.”
