The Man from Upolu Point
©1989 Words and Music by Jerome Grey

History has it told a thousand years ago
That there lived a man
Was a humble man
A quest searching man

A tribute to a hero who fear no evil
Like a song unsung
Where was he from
And where did he belong

Pa’ao! Pa’ao! Kahuna o kohala
O great alii from the south
I come from afar to pay homage to the man from Upolu.

From the hills of Malaia came a warrior and a sailor
Just the tide and the stars like the Hokulea
Kahuna o kohala

My eyes closed in prayer as I stood there
watch chilren play at Kohalahe stay
Upolu Hawaii nei

Pa’ao! Pa’ao! Kahuna o kohala
O great alii from the south
I come from afar to pay homage to the man from Upolu.
